Knotty Girl

As silly as it may sound, I like the idea of a patterned scarf knotted on my head, as seen in Topshop Unique Spring '09 above and on Kylie Minogue, below. I think it looks very sweet, in a homey kind of way. Maybe it's a Brit thing? The best thing about this look is it's versatile--you can make a prim and proper bow, or go for a more abstract, experimental look. Either way, it's lots of fun!

Big Love

Chloe Sevigny has always been a unique dresser, but lately she's been doing it while simultaneously looking incredibly polished and jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I'm loving her bright orangey-red lipstick, too!

Sugar Rush

I saw these Stella McCartney Fruit of the Week undies on a British website and was smitten. I love food almost as much as I love fashion, so its hard for me to resist them. And while we're talking about sweet things, here's what I'm wishing for this Valentine's Day:

That's right: a Baskin-Robbins ICE CREAM CAKE!

Stylista

I cannot get over how wonderful Pixie Market's styling is. It amazes and inspires me on a daily basis. These images have me wanting knee socks as a regular feature in my wardrobe!

Sweet Bows

Spotted this lovely Swede sporting her scarf tied in a loose bow (via Refinery29's Street Scenes). Perhaps she was perusing Japanese magazine Jille for inspiration before she went out? A somewhat fuzzy scan below...

Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down

These lace-up peeptoe wedges from Oak are so chic! A little bondagey, a little Dita-von-Teese. These would look perfect with a bright pedicure. I'm so happy the "laced shoes" trend is carrying over to spring. For more amazing heels, visit Sea of Shoes--one of my favorite style blogs.

All In Your Head

And so the Spring Couture/Fall '09 presentations begin. Here's some eye candy from Chanel's Couture show. I love the delicately blooming floral headdresses.

Bunny Love

I had this Deer Dana tee on my bookmark list for what seemed like forever, never being able to justify the $40 price tag. Then, lo and behold, Forever21 offers up this version below, which I dare say is even more charming than the former. Hah! In times like these, F21 is every girl's knight in shining armor.

Full Bloom

Doc Martens are nothing new, but I'm only just now starting to warm up to them. Plain black might be a little too edgy for me, but I think this version is just the right combo of grunge and feminine! Below are some inspiring street scene girls sporting them with pride:

Purrfect

Hello Kitty and M.A.C have paired up for an extra-special, extra-sweet collection debuting this February. Anybody who knows me knows I love Hello Kitty, so this is pretty much a perfect marriage in my eyes. Though I would have preferred white packaging and colorful illustrations, I'm nevertheless pleased with the results--a bit more grown up, sluttified Hello Kitty, but still Hello Kitty. I'm still kicking myself for missing the Fafi collection (shown below) and crossing my fingers for a My Little Pony collab in the future. If anyone is a sucker for cute packaging, I am!

Love Sweet Love

I'm already excited for Valentine's Day, so what better way to immerse myself in the holiday than by creating a love-themed post of pink and red looks?

Cut It Short

Crop tops are showing up everywhere, and I think they're a fun flirty option for warmer weather. You can experiment with layering, and they look great with high-waisted jeans. These are some of my favorites:

Petal Top by Hearts in My Eyes (bonadrag.com)
Stud Crop Tank by Amelia Lindquist (peeps.org)

Extra Chunky

Chunky shoes are IT this spring. Pierre Hardy is back in cahoots with GAP, this time offering up a three strap platform heel (above) that will no doubt fly off the shelves come February 9th. I'm also digging these architectural, thick heels from the likes of Frye, Kristen Lee, and Rachel Comey too!

Just for Kicks

Nike's wildly popular Liberty Hi Dunks are baaaack, much to my delight. I was unlucky in snagging some last spring so I'm yearning for these new styles, though I can't decide which I like better:

Blown Away

I loved the fresh windswept makeup and hair styles at Fendi's Spring '09 show. The ethereally beautiful dresses weren't bad either...

Dreaming of spring...

After learning that my family and I are going to Palm Springs--one of my favorite vacation spots--this April, I'm even more anxious for spring to arrive. Palm Springs is such a little slice of heaven, with its sun-bleached desert mountains and lush palm tree-lined oases dotted with bright white retro-modern houses and kitschy restaurants. Even more exciting is the fact that Ace Hotel (so famous in Portland) is opening up a location right there in February. It's sure to be a beautiful retreat, as the Ace team is known for their fresh take on modern decor. Below are some of my swimwear picks for what I'll be wearing come April, as I'm lounging poolside, sipping a date shake, visiting Ace's swim club and spa, or exploring the Indian Canyons:

Urban Outfitters has me excited about a more retro swim look. I think these high-waisted bottoms are really flattering, and go well with this ruffly top. (Swim top, Delia's; bottoms, Urban Outfitters)

But, then again, I also love Insight's decidedly less demure look, with crazy patterns.

Finally, I love Agent Provocateur's eye for charming detail in this "cowgirl bikini", complete with rope trim.

Peep THIS!

I love discovering new designers, especially the ones that are just starting out, so I was thrilled to come upon a post on The Coveted about the lovely Amelia Lindquist, a prodigiously talented student at Parsons. Her website, peeps.org, is a veritable treasure trove of intriguing, fashion forward pieces at wallet-friendly prices. I went a bit crazy perusing the site and was tempted to snap up one of everything! My favorites included a Sophomore-esq black zipper dress, a gorgeous black cut-out top, and an intricate floral rope skirt--definitely a daring fashion risk, but a good one. Other fun add-ons like fringed mariachi leggings and turban headbands are just as tempting.
